Project Description

Road Project & Maintenance Directorate (RPMD) of Ministry of Works (MOW) has noted repeated water leakage in the underpass constructed as a part of Mina Salman Interchange.
This project implementation will be using the funding provisions of the Government of Bahrain.
The Mina Salman Interchange project is constructed with seven span bridges with a two-lane carriageway, its associate slip roads, and an underpass with three lanes on each side of the interchange with a total length of approximately 900 meters and width 35 meters, base thickness varies from 600 to 2800 mm. MOW intends to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced consultancy firm to provide an expert opinion on the remedial works for Mina Salman Interchange Underpass Leakage Repair and Implementation supervision of approved remedial works. Pre and Post Contract engineering services for the above project awarded to Euro group Consultancy to design & supervise.
In addition, there is a mass concrete layer laid on the top of the reinforced base slab of maximum thickness of about 900mm, to increase the self- weight of the base slab to counter the buoyancy.
The project scope includes establishing the current water table level at the underpass, reviewing the remedial measures undertaken to date and evaluating their effectiveness based on historical data. It also involves proposing recommended remedial actions and repairs that should be undertaken both immediately and in the future, along with a detailed time schedule for the required repairs.
