Company: Euro Group for Engineering Consultancy – Saudi Arabia
Job Summary:
Support the environmental monitoring program by managing spatial data workflows, producing maps and geospatial analyses, integrating remote sensing and field data, and contributing to data products, reports and visualization tools that inform monitoring site selection, hotspot identification and trend detection.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, process and maintain spatial datasets (field sampling locations, monitoring stations, land use, infrastructure, remote sensing imagery, environmental layers).
- Create, update and manage GIS layers, geodatabases and metadata to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
- Produce thematic maps, geostatistical maps and spatial visualizations for baseline reports, monitoring plans and presentations.
- Conduct spatial analyses (site suitability, hotspot detection, interpolation, buffer and overlay analyses) to support sampling design, anomaly detection and pollution source identification.
- Integrate multi‑source data (satellite imagery, field measurements, laboratory results, LiDAR, UAV data) and prepare inputs for statistical and trend analyses.
- Develop and implement GIS workflows and standard operating procedures; ensure metadata and quality control for spatial data.
- Support development and integration of the centralized environmental data management and visualization system; assist with data exchange, APIs and map services.
- Collaborate with field teams, laboratory staff, statisticians and data engineers to ensure spatial accuracy and usability of outputs.
- Prepare cartographic deliverables and figure-ready maps for technical reports and stakeholder presentations.
- Provide training and technical support to client staff on GIS tools, data interpretation and map production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Science, Environmental Data, Geography, Environmental Science or a related field.
- Formal training or certifications in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial analysis techniques desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in GIS, preferably within environmental monitoring, natural resources, or related projects.
- Demonstrated experience producing maps, managing geodatabases, and performing spatial analyses for field monitoring programs.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in ArcGIS and/or QGIS.
- Experience with remote sensing and image processing (satellite/UAV).
- Competence in spatial analysis and geostatistical methods (interpolation, hot‑spot analysis, spatial joins, raster/vector analysis).
- Experience with geodatabase design, metadata standards and data quality control.
- Familiarity with environmental data types (air, water, soil, noise) and spatial sampling design.
- Experience creating map products and visualizations suitable for reports and web mapping.
- Knowledge of data integration methods (CSV, shapefiles, GeoJSON, raster formats) and basic scripting (Python/ArcPy, GDAL) preferred.
- Experience with web GIS, map services, or integration with data management platforms is an advantage.
Core Competencies
- Strong attention to spatial data accuracy and QA/QC.
- Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem solving, organization and ability to meet deliverable deadlines.
- Ability to train and mentor client staff in GIS practices.
