Job Summary:

Euro Group Engineering Consultancy seeks an experienced Oil Spill Cleanup Consultant to provide technical leadership and advisory services for oil spill response, shoreline and coastal remediation, and associated environmental assessments. The consultant will assess environmental impacts, develop and review response and cleanup plans, supervise remediation activities, coordinate with authorities and stakeholders, and produce technical deliverables to ensure safe, compliant and effective response operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess environmental impacts of oil spill incidents and contaminated coastal/shoreline soils.
  • Develop, review and approve oil spill response plans, contingency plans, cleanup strategies and remedial method statements.
  • Lead and/or supervise field remediation operations, including shoreline cleanup, HOS/AP removal, tilling/excavation, waste handling and verification sampling.
  • Coordinate response and remediation activities with clients, regulators, port/authority stakeholders and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards, permits and HSSE requirements during response and remediation.
  • Provide emergency response management support during activations (incident command/ICS interfaces).
  • Oversee environmental monitoring and laboratory analysis (TPH/PAH and other relevant tests); interpret data and integrate findings into technical recommendations.
  • Prepare clear, well‑structured technical reports, incident summaries, cost estimates and executive briefings.
  • Advise on selection, procurement and performance monitoring of response equipment and remediation contractors.
  • Capture lessons learned, support post‑incident reviews and contribute to preparedness, training and exercise programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Marine or Environmental Engineering or related field; postgraduate degree preferred.
  • Recognized oil spill response / incident management training (e.g., IMO/OSR, ICS) and HSE certifications preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ professional experience in oil spill response, coastal remediation or closely related environmental emergency projects.
  • Proven track record supervising field remediation and delivering technical reports for spill response and contaminated land/coastal projects. Candidates must be able to provide project examples and references.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in oil spill response tactics, shoreline cleanup methods and coastal remediation technologies.
  • Knowledge of environmental impact assessment, environmental monitoring protocols and sediment/soil chemistry (TPH/PAH).
  • Emergency response and incident command experience.
  • Strong technical writing, reporting and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and international standards for marine pollution response.
  • Proficiency with GIS and basic data analysis tools are desirable.

Personal Competencies

  • Strong leadership, decision‑making and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to operate under pressure and mobilize on short notice for emergency activations.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel to and work at coastal sites and project locations.
